Your race card guide to spot a winner at the Cheltenham Festival

The inaugural running of the Cheltenham festival is fast approaching as the top national hunt horses are set to race for record prize money that as of 2018 will be £4,590,000. With this being the case connections will have been targeting certain festival races throughout the season whether it be the Championship or handicaps races. One horse that looks set to be the next star of National hunt racing and one that would lift crowd numbers in itself is the novice Samcro.

He has been one of the most talked about horses in training and following on from his first facile group 1 victory this is only likely to grow. The latest Cheltenham festival betting has him as the even money favourite to continuing his unbeaten run in the Ballymore Novice chase. His other option would be the Supreme on day one but the Ballymore looks to be the far likelier option. Connections feel he could be a future Gold Cup horse and the way he travelled through his most recent start stamps class and he looks to be a real star with most distances likely to be no problem within the future.
